Faith and optimism aren't new to us: our system began in 1872 with five religious sisters who journeyed from Germany to care for the sick and poor in the filthy, contaminated tenements of St. Louis. Facing cholera, diptheria and smallpox, the sisters gave away everything they received, sustaining themselves by faith alone and condsidering the challenge a blessing!
The sisters believed that, with God's help, everything is possible. Today, that same belief gives us a deeper grasp of our power to significantly transform our health care services and achieve our promise of best care and best results as we strive to live up to our mission: "Through our exceptional health care services, we reveal the healing presence of God."
