Visiting Hours
- Visiting hours are from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm daily.
- Visitors must enter through the Emergency Department after 6:00 pm on weekdays and all day on Saturdays and Sundays.
Visitor Guidelines
- SSM Health has discontinued its universal masking policy as of March 15, 2023.
- Masks are no longer required, with the exception of those who have known or suspected COVID-19 or other upper respiratory symptoms.
- We support patients and visitors who choose to wear a mask and will provide one at entry.

Helping You Get Your Independence Back
Inpatient Rehabilitation Program
Our program helps those with a disabling injury or illness achieve an optimal level of independence. Structured therapy sessions are designed to meet each person’s special needs and goals with a minimum of three hours of therapy daily. Patients must have a need for at least two of the following types of therapy: physical, occupational, and speech, and require medical management by a physician and nursing staff. Clinical social work interventions are scheduled for all patients as well. There are 10 private rooms on the unit giving each patient a comfortable stay. Helpful Hospital Resources
The chapel at SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital – Mt. Vernon is open 24 hours daily for prayer and meditation. The chapel is located near the main entrance. Catholic Mass is held every Wednesday at Noon.
Chaplain services are available by request. Call 618-899-1449 to schedule a visit with a member from our pastoral care team.
We know you have the best intentions. Unfortunately, sometimes outside gifts – such as food, drinks and flowers – can actually be dangerous to patients. Please check with the unit nurse before bringing any gifts.

Our nutrition staff will visit each room twice a day to let you know about food options for your next meal. Patients can order during this visit. Nutritionists will send your order down to the kitchen electronically before they leave. Food will be delivered when it’s ready.

Parking & Driving Directions
Patient and visitor parking is designated with numbered, blue pole banners. We provide shuttle service, as a convenience, from our parking lots to our main entrance. The shuttle service runs Monday through Friday from 7:00 am to 3:00 pm. Visitors and patients can call 618-242-4600 to request a shuttle ride once parked in the lot or after an appointment or visit to get back to their vehicle.
